Handywoman at Work

I'm so proud of myself.  My dishwasher has been running very loudly for weeks, which is always an ominous sign.  And then tonight I turned on the dishwasher, and came back 20 minutes later to no noise but an icky smell.  The dishwasher was heating, but there was no water inside.  I had visions of weeks of washing dishes by hand, and hundreds of dollars being spent on replacing my second major kitchen appliance in less than a month (my much despised fridge died in August).

I almost called my dad, and even thought about calling a repairman.  But then I turned to Dr. Google, who informed me that maybe my Flood Float needed to be tapped.  I got out the wooden spoon, and whacked on the Flood Float a few times as instructed, but it didn't fix the problem.  So I really banged that Flood Float around (still not sure what a Flood Float does, but it's a little round dome at the front bottom of the washer), tried it again, and it's fixed!  Not only does it fill with water, but it does so quietly!

I can't believe I just fixed my dishwasher.  I feel so....self sufficient!

  1. I totally get that feeling of empowerment and satisfaction when I fix something around the house. Especially when I save money in the process too!
