I finally talked to Finn's primary oncologist yesterday afternoon. She said she wasn't worried about the lymph node at all. It looks completely benign, and no where near the tumor, so she thinks it's just the radiologist being overly dramatic. She does want to do another MRI in 4 months, though. That will put us at 2 years from Finn's initial diagnosis, and she says that at that point, if all is still well, her level of worry drops drastically.
As much as I hate the thought of another MRI in 4 months, it really isn't that terribly different from another MRI in 6 months. And if that is her magic point for feeling less worried, then I'm ok with that. So August it is.

Today was Finn's original due date. I told him that this morning when we got up. "And I'd like to point out to you that your birthday isn't for another 10 days." He wasn't very impressed.
Holy cow. In 10 days, my baby will be 2! How is that even possible?

Glad the oncologist isn't worried. I cannot wait for you to get another good MRI so the worry level can go down. Happy almost birthday, Finn!
ReplyDeleteA silver lining for a 4 month MRI - less time to worry for before getting more (hopefully) good news. 10 days until Finn is two? Oh my does the time fly!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, nearly two already! That's amazing. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a stellar MRI in four months!
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy that Finn's almost 2 years old! Time has flown by.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jen & Tiara, if 4 months makes the onc happy, then 4 months it is ;-).
For some reason this post makes me teary. Tugs on something raw inside of me - the tentative feeling of relief that comes with the hope and optimism that all is going to be ok. I like the plan for an MRI in August. That is a big month for you and me - 2 years since Carys and Finn's diagnoses, and 3 years since Fiona's crisis. Let's plan on some BIG celebrating in August :) !!
ReplyDeleteThat's good that the oncologist isn't worried. I'm sure it doesn't really ease your mind that much.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he's 2. Time flies.
Glad to hear the oncologist's results. Once again, Finn has proved just how strong he is against that tumor!
ReplyDeleteFinn can't be turning two already....you need to check your math, he can't possibly be growing up that quickly, besides he JUST turned one a few days ago! I guess time really does fly when you are having fun, right?!
