First, a huge thank you for all the comments on my last post - there were some great suggestions, but a special shout out to Tashia, for giving me such great tips! I'll keep you all posted on the Great Nanny Hunt of 2011.
I’ve had a horrible couple of days at work. The details don’t really matter, but last night I actually had to make a list of all the reasons I want to stay where I am now, and not go for one of those jobs I get postcards about on a weekly basis. One of those jobs that pays more, with less hours and no hospital call – out in the middle of nowhere, of course, but more money and less work? It’s tempting. I doubt I’d ever take the step to go elsewhere, there are too many great things about where I live, but I’m starting to wonder if I’m crazy to want to stay.
In the meantime, Chiquitito has been making his presence known even more than usual. As he gets bigger, his movements are more palpable and visible – and it’s easier to tell what body part I’m feeling when I rub my belly. There are times that it feels like he’s a blender – no, a mixer – in my belly, with his limbs like the beaters against my abdomen. I’m not sure what he’s doing then, but it’s very abrupt intense movements, and I imagine him squirming around, trying to find a comfortable spot as he rearranges my insides. My favorite part is when I rub his little butt (or what I think is his butt) and he moves his whole body into my hand. And then I feel his little foot, or his back, or his knee and think – in less than 6 weeks I’ll know what all these parts look like, I’ll be cuddling him outside my body. After years and years of dreaming of being a mom, it’s hard to believe that I’m so close to finally meeting my boy.

So sorry to hear that you had a horrible couple of days.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear work has been so tough lately.
ReplyDeleteJust 6 more weeks? Wow! So close now!!
Sorry to hear that you've had a few bad days at work!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that little boy will be here in 6 weeks or less! Seems like you were just finding out... where does the time go?!??!
That's so unfortunate about your workplace.
ReplyDeleteI love what you wrote about feeling your little boy...simply beautiful.
I hope things calm down with work soon. Wow! Yiy'll be meeting your little guy soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is always so hard to imagine that it's really real, I think. I am happy for you that you're becoming a mom, and Chiquitito is almost here!
ReplyDeleteSorry work has been rough... just remember you will have 12 weeks of maternity leave soon!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I love how he moves in to be "held" or "hugged" by his mommy!
ReplyDeleteSorry things haven't been so great at work :(
aww..love the part about you rubbing your belly/ his butt and him moving his body into your hands. wow. the countdown is quickly winding down! from dream to reality in just over a month.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that work has been trying as of late. When does your mat leave start?
ReplyDeleteSorry that work is rough and I hope it is just a passing thing. I am all for looking at your options - more money for less work sounds great. But I understand the relocating thing. You have loads of time to decide. Sounds like your little guy is more active than mine. Mine moves a lot but I no longer feel him doing somersaults.
ReplyDeleteYes, sorry that work has been rough going. I am curious what is happening because it seemed you enjoy some of the people you work with there, so maybe it is the overall management/system? Anyway, hope things get better soon. Love that you are feeling your little one move around and connecting with him through touch. I never knew you could tell what you were feeling like that, it sounds really cool.
