My second beta, at 16dpIUI, is 868! This more than doubled from two days ago, and is also more than twice what my beta was at 17dpIUI with my last pregnancy. I feel so much better about this pregnancy than the last, but I can’t help but be worried, too. I know that first ultrasound will help a lot. My first ultrasound last time had several abnormalities (small baby, slow heartbeat, large yolk sac) that all indicated bad things to come, so if this ultrasound is good, I’ll breathe a huge sigh of relief. But I don’t get that ultrasound until Sept 13, so I’m going to have to try to not worry between now and then. Ok, that’s impossible. How about this - I’ll try not to worry too much.
Looking back at my journals from last time, I started to feel nausea right about now. Considering my beta and my progesterone were both half what they are now, and I'm not feeling particularly sick, I'm hoping that either I won't get sick at all this time, or if I do, it'll take longer to kick in (I really think 4 weeks is way too early to be feeling bad!) As I was drinking my mint chocolate cookie milkshake this afternoon, it occurred to me that I should be using this nausea-free time to be eating healthy, because a few weeks from now, I might be back on the potatoes and crackers diet. So I'm hereby announcing that today's milkshake will be my last for a while. No more Junior Mints or Whoppers, either. I celebrated this decision tonight by avoiding the ice cream aisle in the grocery store tonight and getting fruit for dessert instead.
Yay me!

That's Fabulous Shannon!!! I know it's natural to worry and feel anxious... but it sounds like things are really wonderful. Just keep making a safe and nurturing place for the wee one to develop and grow... nature will do the rest! Congratulations on such great numbers!!
ReplyDeleteHi, been following for a while and just wanted to say Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! That's great news!
ReplyDeleteFantasic news! You are right about enjoying the nausea free time while you can because the icky will find you soon enough! I found that pregnancy was just a more torturous series of the 2 week wait only now you have so much more riding on it. Wait until ultrasound, wait until this test, wait until that test, wait until viability, etc... Just hang on and try not to worry too much!
ReplyDeleteWith numbers like that, has anyone mentioned twins?!? I am so so so excited for you lady!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Great numbers and its still in singleton range. My day 17 beta with the last one was 1170 or something like that. I freaked but there was only one in there.
ReplyDeleteIts really good that progesterone is high, that is the best sign of a healthy pregnancy! You know me, I love the details- how much was it?
Awesome Beta # 2!!! Yes, try not to worry too much...when I was freaking out at week 7, a very wise woman told me, "Chances are very good that all is well - believe that" & told me to remind her of that ;)
ReplyDeleteHope your worries are kept at bay. That milkshake looks actually delish!!
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon, love your blog.. Good luck to you. Don't worry, it's going to be okay..
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the support and congratulations! :)
ReplyDelete@Tiara - right now I'm thinking that woman was probably nutso! LOL Thanks for reminding me, I'm really going to try to remember to be calm.
@Jay - I know you saw my progesterone level on the CM board, but I'm repeating it here for anyone else who's interested - a whopping 95!
@SIF - my numbers fall right in the middle of betabase's numbers for twins, but also plots in an expected range for a singleton, too. The betas are so much higher than last time, though, I can't help but wonder.... :)
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteGreat beta! It is so nerve wracking....the waiting...;)
ReplyDeleteYay! Enjoy eating your fruits and veggies while you can :) And darn you for sharing that milkshake picture--it looks SO good! Your ultrasound date is my mom's b-day :)
ReplyDeleteAgain--CONGRATS!
Great!!!! Things are looking good! Happy for you. Mint chocolate cookie milkshake??? MMMMMMMM
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky - I have been having a real difficulty eating. I have even lost two pounds. I spent a grueling seafood dinner with my parents yesterday - the clams were great but the fish was uggg. Of course, this is going to be the last of the seafood for a while :(
ReplyDeleteLoving your beta!! When do you go in for an u/s? (I think there are many on here that would put money on you carrying twins!)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling so good right now--- and I agree, take advantage :)
(don't think I congratulated you on your blog, so..) Congratulations!! What a wonderful second betta!
