Much of the past few months have been a huge blur. I feel constantly busy, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm so much busier with now than I was over the summer. And I definitely never feel like I'm caught up. I know I'll never really catch up, but I just feel so out of control of everything.
What's most obvious to me, though, is that I need to be taking more time for myself. I need more sleep, I need a massage (I've had a crick in my neck for over a month), I need to get back to walking on the weekend. I need a night out with friends and without kids. If I could just manage to take better care of myself, I'd probably find that it would be a lot easier to juggle work and home life, and I might actually feel like I'm accomplishing things.
I'm painfully aware that this is not the first time I've said something like this. But it hope it will get easier in January, when I change my hours at work just a little, so I will be finishing about 45 minutes earlier. That 45 minutes should make it possible for me to do errands without the kids, to get in a quick workout a few days a week, and even get a massage with only having to pay the nanny for an hour of overtime. I've found a few babysitters, too, so I need to use them and start planning a dinner or movie night every once in a while.
We're at the beach this weekend with my parents, and I managed about 30 minutes alone to walk on the beach yesterday. I also went to bed an hour early last night, took a nap this afternoon, and plan on going to bed early tonight, too. It's not much, but it's a start.
I have so much more to write, but if I'm going to go to bed on time, I'll have to save it for my next post. I am almost a month behind on my daily pictures, so here are a bunch all at once again.

I relate to this. I feel like we haven't had any down time since May? Here's looking to January & hopefully for me time for the both of us
ReplyDeleteI too can relate to your post. I am back to not eating well and not working out and I hate that :-(
ReplyDeleteZ is adorable. Love that pic of him too tired to eat. Look at those cheeks.
super cute photos!
ReplyDeleteisn't it amazing how sleep is the key to everything... and how hard it can be to get enough of it? though pregnancy renders me nauseous when I get too tired and then I literally can't do anything BUT go to bed because I feel so wretched. which i don't enjoy, exactly, but it does correct the problem. we will see how it goes when i have two kids!
I suck at taking care of myself, and I only have one kid! I can't imagine how much harder it would be with two kids. My only time away from Sidekick is when I'm working. If I'm lucky, I'll find a little time to do something sans child during my work day, but it's usually doing something not fun, like I don't know, running an errand to get food to feed said child. I've wanted to get a manicure for about seven months now! I guess the busyness and exhaustion come with the territory of being a Momma, and even harder... a SMC. Sounds like you have a good plan for 2015!
ReplyDeleteFinding time for myself is definitely the hardest part of being a mom. And I too, repeat that I need to do it, but rarely seem to get there. Hopefully the extra rime in 2015 will help!
ReplyDeleteI think it's impossible to make big changes in life and then stick to them so making small changes is perfect and maintainable.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture too tired to eat. Hilarious.
